Vehicular traffic-bearing coating systems are designed to protect reinforced concrete parking structures. They provide a seamless, durable, skid-resistant "membrane" on the concrete, preventing the ingress of moisture and chloride that lead to premature deterioration of concrete and reinforcing steel. In 1998, The Performance Based Studies Research Group from Arizona State University's Del E. Webb School of Construction inspected 195 parking decks coated with Auto-Gard.
